2008 is a unique year in the history of this political action committee. Term limits are forcing many of our friends out of the legislature. Many races have no incumbent and are in competitive districts where either candidate has a good chance to win. There is not enough money to go around, and that makes putting volunteers on campaigns more critical than ever this year.

Over the years, the endorsement decision-making process has become tougher and tougher because so many candidates, from both parties, are decidedly pro-gun. This is certainly a good problem to have.

We have issued over 100 endorsements. Our endorsed candidates support your right to own firearms, but many of them are simply not familiar with how complicated our laws are. Getting to know your candidates now will help you build a relationship that will pay dividends for years to come, as you are able to take ideas to your legislator not just as a constituent, but as a friend who helped them get elected in the first place.

Whenever possible, we prefer NOT to chose among two pro-gun candidates, but rather define all the applicable candidates in a particular district as "good". In doing so, we can thus encourage voters to make their decisions based on other issues important to them, knowing that their right to bear arms for self-defense is respected by both candidates.

Give Two Days, Get Two Years or More

The battle to get SB184 to Gov. Strickland's desk was hard work. We were successful because of grassroots involvement, and because politicians were willing to go to work for us. Now it's time for us to go to work for them. Buckeye Firearms has committed to put volunteers on the campaigns of our endorsed candidates, but we are short volunteers. We need your help.

There are many good candidates who are willing to go fight for your rights for the next two years. But to make certain they have that opportunity, we are asking you to give two days to their campaign to help them get there. You will never find a better return on your investment of time spent to protect your right to keep and bear arms.

In addition to your volunteer efforts, it is of course of supreme importance that you go to the polls and vote on November 4th. Feel free to print a copy of our endorsed candidates and bring it to the voting booth. Make copies for your pro-gun friends so they know who the best candidates are as well.

Thank you,

James Irvine, Chairman
