Op-Ed: Right-to-carry a feminist issue

Feb. 26, 2006 Delaware News Journal By Megan D. Lehman In the debate over Delaware's concealed-carry gun permits, don't forget the difference between men and women. The average man can physically overpower the average woman; this is a biological fact. The vast majority of violent crimes are committed by men. We women should not have to depend on the men in our lives for protection, nor can we...

Division of Wildlife Denies Hunters Rights

By Larry S. Moore If, like me, you hunt in Ohio then the Division of Wildlife is denying our rights. More specifically if you are a deer hunter in Ohio your right of self-defense through concealed carry is being denied. Arguably many Ohio deer hunters only want concealed carry so they can protect their handgun from the elements while deer hunting. Either way, the Ohio Division of Wildlife...

Letter to Buckeyefirearms.org: Pat Wray's attack on NRA's hunting stance

Pat Wray's recent attacks on the NRA are typical, self-serving diplospeak. Lofty environmental goals are a wonderful concept, until it empowers others to force their ideals on us all. It's the very definition of ecoimperialism when Wray and his ilk can deny anyone of their right to enjoy the out of doors, just because their physical condition or work schedule might preclude them from a 3-day, 30-...

At last. After months of hard work by Ohio's Legislators and many Committee hearings on HB347, the concealed carry reform bill sponsored by Representative Jim Aslanides (R-94) of Coschocton, the Columbus Dispatch has entered the arena with it's usual liberal, anti-gun blathering by printing one of the most uninformed editorials to date on this subject.

Op-Ed: Don't Blame Hunters

February 16, 2006 New York Post By By John R. Lott, Jr. and Joni Ogle With all the fall-out over Dick Cheney accidentally peppering his friend with birdshot, few will probably ever hear that hunting with guns is not a particularly dangerous sport. Nor will they hear any mention that hunting can help save people's lives by helping control animal populations. A Nexis search of news stories found...

Are You Registered To Vote?

By Chris Chumita One of the things that make America great is that we can elect candidates to represent us, our morals, and our beliefs. Voting takes very little effort and may be one of the most important things we can do to support our Second Amendment rights. It is our opportunity to elect pro-gun candidates who in return will help pass pro-gun legislation. This year we are fortunate to have...

Press rage over Cheney mishap was about public’s right to know…from them

By Dave Workman When the White House press corps unloaded on White House spokesman Scott McClellan over the Feb. 11 hunting accident involving Vice President Dick Cheney, they weren’t really as concerned about the public’s right to know as they were about from whom the public knew. “Let’s just be clear here,” barked NBC’s David Gregory. “The vice president of the United States accidentally shoots...

Ohio's Law Enforcement Dilemma

By Gerard Valentino Ohio’s concealed carry law was stonewalled for years by the opposition of the Ohio State Highway Patrol administration who refused to endorse any law that allowed law-abiding citizens to carry loaded guns in cars. After years of debate, public opinion overwhelmed the State Patrol’s opposition and Ohio finally got a concealed carry law.

Op-Ed: Bears, bobcats making Ohio’s wildlife population more diverse

February 12, 2006 By Al Smith Ohio will never be confused with a state like Pennsylvania or the Upper Peninsula of Michigan for its diverse wildlife population. The Buckeye state does not have elk like Pennsylvania or elk, moose or wolves that populate the U.P. And it doesn’t have the populations of bears, bobcats or snowshoe hare like these two states. But some lesser known wildlife do populate...
